Hot off the press are two new posters, a lichen color chart and a spot test poster.

In the U.S. they are $14 each from Wild Blueberry Media, shipping included.

You can find more information at the Wild Blueberry website:

    Lichen Color Chart

Colors of lichens are very important for their identification, but beginners often struggle with color terms as applied by lichenologists in descriptions and keys. For example, usnic acid gives a distinctive yellowish tinge to lichens, which is recognized by all lichenologists, but initially that yellow tinge can be hard to discern in comparison to the wide range in subtle tones displayed by lichens. The purposes of this posters are first, to help beginners learn to see colors the way that lichenologists see and refer to them, and second, to provide an attractive and interesting visual display of the spectrum of colors seen in lichens. Each color term is illustrated with five examples from lichens of the Pacific Northwest of North America.

    10 x 29 inch (25.4 x 73.7 cm) poster on heavy white paper, folded in panels to 10 x 7.25 inches.

    Mailed flat and folded.

Spot Test Poster, with standard reagents (K, C, P, UV)

Chemical spot tests and UV reactions are commonly used and extremely helpful in lichen identification. Beginners, however, often have difficulties interpreting their observations, simply because they have not seen an example of the reaction. The purposes of this poster are first, to display the appearance of the most commonly encountered spot test reactions and second, to show how the spot tests are used to infer the presence of the most commonly encountered secondary lichen substances.

    17 x 22 inch (43 x 56 cm) poster on heavy white paper, folded in quarters to 8.5 x 11 inches.

    Mailed flat and folded.
