Hello,
I am student at The Evergreen State College (TESC). I found what I believe to be L. megaspora. Looking for any additional insight into this ID.
Location: TESC Olympia, WA
Elevation: ~10ft AMSL
Substrate: Bark - Thuja plicata
Ecosystem: Second growth forest - mixed dominance. Adjacent shore Salish Sea.
Notes: Found on the trunk of a Thuja plicata that had fallen onto the beach due to rock-fall.
Characteristics: Most notable is the barrel/mug-shaped pycnidia with "whipped cream" or "frothy" tops of extruded pycnospores which I attempted to photograph. No apothecia observed.
Chemsitry: C-
Thanks!
