The Lichinaceae are among the most challenging to me. I know these photos are not great but is this either Psorotichia or Peccania? The lichen is growing on sandstone. The areoles are <.0.5 mm. I fail to recognize presence of any apothecia. The photobiont is Gleocapsa. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thank you.
Those genera are possible but others are too. See pages 28-31 in the key to genera in Microlichens of the PNW. Sometimes the fruiting bodies are rather cryptic -- you might try thin sectioning various promising spots, since you have ample material.
Thank you Bruce.
