    Hey all,

As far as I can tell, Thamnolia spp. generally just occur on moss and thin soil over rock. However, I found this image in an iNat observation and it looks like a Thamnolia spp. growing on a downed Pinus contorta twig. Has anyone seen a Thamnolia spp. growing on wood in any form?

    Thanks!

I have occasionally observed Thamnolia growing on tree and shrub roots within populations where it is otherwise growing on its more preferred substrates.
