NWSA has cancelled their in person meeting, but lichenologists plan to meet in person in Arcata anyway. Save the dates!

Annual general meeting (March 17-19, 2022, Arcata, California at Humboldt State University. We are meeting immediately before the California Lichen Society (CALS) annual meeting. This year, registration for the NWL meeting is through the NWL website. The meeting has talks, a workshop, and one or more field trips. See photos from past meetings. For information on giving a talk or poster and for the general schedule, check here later. Note that the CALS meeting will include a field trip, potluck dinner, and the traditional birthday party, so please join CALS if you're not a member and plan to stay through the 19th.

Registration, schedule, and more details for the CALS meeting are at: https://www.eventbrite.com/.../california-lichen-society...

Support for students. For 2022 we are offering 3, $100 gifts for students (undergraduate or graduate) travelling to present in the lichen-bryophyte session at the NWL/NWSA meeting. First priority will be given to those giving oral presentations, second priority to poster presentations. Within those groups, awards will be given in the order that abstracts were received. Also, please check for opportunities with your college or university -- most of those have grants for student travel to meetings.

Field trips: We will have at least two field trips near Arcata. A schedule and summary of lichen activities for the meeting are forthcoming.

Workshop: Time and Subject TBA.

Lodging: There are many motels close to town, but this one is convenient to everything: Hotel Arcata (708 9th St, Arcata, CA, 95521). This is within walking distance to the university. It is not the cheapest option, but it is the best location.

Further meeting details will appear here as they become available.

Future years: We are eager to have YOU help to organize the lichen part of the annual meeting. The meeting is arranged on a year-by-year basis, depending on the location of the NWSA meeting. This usually happens in mid to late March. The annual meeting typically has four components: talks that present ongoing or completed research (we try to keep this as casual and informal as possible); a workshop on a particular topic, genus, or area; field trips to some local spots of interest; and evening socializing, usually at a local restaurant.
