The first-ever Northwest Lichenologists Virtual Symposium will meet via Zoom.
Talks will be of two kinds: 15-minute traditional research talks and 5-minute talks for those who prefer to present on a smaller project or an interdisciplinary vignette about lichens (art, poetry, etc).
NOTE: Registration has been shifted from this site to Eventbrite for financial reasons. If you were previously registered or waitlisted, you should have received an email pointing to this new site: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/northwest-lichenologists-virtual-symposium-tickets-141224021851
Our apologies for this inconvenience.
The schedule also includes invited guest speakers and a panel discussion on "So you want to be a lichenologist?” The panel will feature a cross section of professional lichenologists from different walks of life.
We especially encourage talks about research conducted in the Pacific NW of North America on topics such as:
● ecological roles of lichens and bryophytes
● genomic approaches to understanding the lichen symbiosis
● diversity and evolution of lichens
● conservation projects
● applied research in using lichens to monitor air pollution and climate change
Submissions from outside the PNW will be considered if space allows. People with any level of lichen knowledge are welcome to submit. Click here for information on abstract submission. DEADLINE EXTENDED -- Email your abstract by March 12 at 5 p.m. to nwlichen.social@gmail.com
You must register to participate and receive the zoom link. That will be distributed to registrants shortly before the meeting. You do not need to make a presentation to participate. There is no charge for registration.
