Annual general meeting (March 26-29, 2019, Lewiston, Idaho at  Lewis-Clark State College). We are meeting with the Northwest Scientific Association (NWSA). Registration is through NWSA. The meeting has talks, a workshop, and one or more field trips. See photos from past meetings.

Draft program: see official program when you arrive for details. Revised 16 Mar 2019

Field trip: Canyon Crusts led by Rob Smith

This field trip will visit Wawawai County Park on the Snake River NW of Lewiston. The site is perhaps a 40 minute drive from Lewiston. We will explore the diversity of soil and saxicolous crustose lichens found in this unique habitat.

Workshop: Untangling Usnea led by Daphne Stone

This workshop will focus on Usnea, one of the most common and difficult genera of lichens in the Pacific Northwest. The workshop will demonstrate use of the Daphne's recently published booklet "Usnea in the Pacific Northwest" that succinctly illustrates twenty-four species found in the area.  We will provide identified specimens so participants can familiarize themselves with the species. Participants are encouraged to bring their own specimens to identify. Bring your copy of McCune and Geiser (2009) and $12 to buy the booklet.

Future years: We are eager to have YOU help to organize the meeting. The meeting is arranged on a year-by-year basis, depending on the location of the NWSA meeting. This usually happens in mid to late March. The annual meeting typically has four components: talks that present ongoing or completed research (we try to keep this as casual and informal as possible); a workshop on a particular topic, genus, or area; field trips to some local spots of interest; and evening socializing, usually at a local restaurant.
