Don Zobel forwarded this to me. Has anyone seen it? The title is intriguing?

I was curious so I thumbed through it at the local book store. Sadly, it has nothing to do with lichens, and it seems like just a catchy title. The poetry is traditional, some might even say bland. I wonder what lichen songs do sound like? Something for this poet to ponder....

I believe we should take it as a challenge!I KNOW that lichens sing beautiful songs.

I read this book, and while I didn’t find it bland, I didn’t find a lot of joy in there. My guess is that the title is a homage to the resilience, patience, hardiness, and resourcefulness that Venn perceives in lichens, qualities he obviously admired since he venerates them in many poems. The sole poem dedicated to lichens has the line;”Together,[Fungi and Algae] they got the hardest job in the world-eating rocks, making dirt.”
