Hi folks - anyone know if Peltigera castanea is known from the Bend, Oregon area, specifically Wychus Canyon? Maybe it's common in the region but I didn't find any records in my CNALH search.

    Cheers,

I don't know of any confirmed records of P. castanea from Oregon or Washington, so it would be noteworthy if you found it there. In that group we have P. didactyla s.str. and P. extenuata rather frequently. Right after the paper with P. castanea was published I looked through my material and found a couple of candidates, sent them to a Peltigerophile, but they were rejected in favor of one of the more common species.

Thanks Bruce - I'll do likewise - we have some confirmed material so some decent material to compare it to, but always nice to get a second opinion. I'll update the post when I get either confirmation or correction!

    Cheers, thanks for the background.
