Ochrolechia turneri

I was wondering about Ochrolechia turneri. Bruce, I know you found it when out at MPG last spring, and I have a collected specimen from that day. What makes it distinctive? I don't want to miss it.

I have a photo labeled RD 021816, and I am wondering if it is it around the red woodland star leaf?

    Thanks!

Rebecca, that could be O. turneri -- hard to say at that scale. It has the color of O. upsaliensis (and similar chemical tests), but is sorediate.

Thanks Bruce, that's helpful. This picture isn't the best, but zooming in I could see soredia and a couple apos that look like Ochrolechia.

The specimen I have from your visit doesn't have apos, which would definitely be a cue in.  I think O. turneri has been more common than I thought but I may have overlooked it thinking it was Lepraria sp. if it only has soredia.
