    Hi all,

In the photo gallery marked #1075, are pictures of the upper and lower surface of a lichen collected at 7300 feet, on volcanic rock, in the South Warner Mountains of Northern California. Spot tests are K-, KC+R and C+R. No apothecia. The lower surface is covered in dark rhizines.

Could this be U. cinereorufescens, or just a very dark U. americana?

    How about U. nodulospora?

    Bruce,

This doesn't seem to have apothecia, in fact I think it has pycnidia. All the nodge

I have seen, has apothecia. I added 3 pictures of an LM cross section in three different powers. The gray fuzzy area to the right of the cross section is the spores or conidia (I think) in the highest magnification picture.

I forgot to tell you, the conidia(?) measure around 5.2x2.5 microns.
