funny crustose lichen from Elwha foray

I found this lichen on Pseudotsuga trees near the bald we visited in Clallam Co., WA on 18 April 2026. Lecanactis megaspora was growing alongside.

I don't know how to key it out since it is sterile but hasn't got soredia or isidia.

There are 3 photos - the first a chunk of bark with the crust, 2nd a close-up of the thallus showing the irregular, black pycnidia, 3rd a slice of the pycnidium with conidia, but pretty out of focus.

    Any ideas?

Well, that's a nice thick thallus -- any chemistry to it? The blue-green wall of the pycnidium is definitely a good clue. Might want to think about genera that have those blue green pigments in the apothecia, such as Mycoblastus.
