Hi all,

I need a little help with this lichen on moss over basalt. The spores are 33.2-38.4 X 10.2-12.8 microns. They fit Rinodina roscida in color and size. All spot tests are negative. The apothecia however are mostly convex with a few plane. The margin is also black rather than concolourous with the thallus. Since this comes from Northeastern California, just a few miles from Oregon, it would be a large distribution extension for R. roscida.

Any ideas on this? Photos in the gallery labeled 3/12/18.

Buellia was my first thought also but the spore size and negative spot tests don't match anything I can find. I am using Bruce's new books also.

That is the exact species I thought too. Besides the spore size, the spot tests are all negative also.
