New camera needed for Leica dissecting scope.

Oh help and bother!  I am in the middle of a dissection of a fresh plant I'm trying to watercolor and my decades old Nikon Coolpix 4500 with the adapter Optem 257014 has died a quick and final death.

Can someone recommend a digital camera having a finely threaded lens opening with an I.D. of 29 mm.  The I.D. of the Leica scope is 30 mm.  My camera had the following specs:  Zoom Nikkor 1:2.6-5.1,  7.85-32 mm.  The zoom enabled me to zoom in past the sides of the tube with further magnification. I only have access to this one plant and I don't have much time to get the detailed photos I need to paint a botanically correct specimen.  Can someone recommend something that fits this description?

I have a setup like that and recently bought a like-new replacement camera, same kind (or the 995 model) on ebay, for something like $40. The resolution of the camera is much lower than the modern ones (hence the low price), but I find the camera easy to use and I like the articulated head. Seems like most of the common problems with photomicrography don't have anything to do with resolution.

    Bruce:

I was in a panic!  I went to E-bay, and you're right.  There were a couple of my old Nikons for sale there.  A nice one went for $27.  It didn't occur to me that those cameras were still around.  The new pocket cameras don't have machine threaded lens openings.  I'm going to look into buying a old Nikon 4500.  The resolution is just fine for what I'm doing.

    Thanks for the idea!
