The hiring process begins November 15 and ends soon after so respond asap! This work requires travel across Oregon and Washington, dispersed site camping, abundant hiking and back country navigation (aka “roughing it”).
We are looking for:
- Demonstrated skill with PNW Lichen taxonomy.
Ex. Certification through Northwest Lichenologists or Master’s degree focusing on lichen taxonomy
- Competence in the forest off trail navigating with maps and compass, gps.
- Willingness to spend most of the summer travelling throughout Oregon and Washington and camping in dispersed locations
- Proficiency with PNW vegetation
- Willingness to hike off trail, cross country up and down steep rocky terrain and make minor stream crossings.
- Demonstrated ability to physically hike up to 15miles a day over steep grades
- 4WD and navigation experience on Forest Service roads
- Willingness to work and camp alone
- Experience with the FIA lichen monitoring protocol (preferred)
