Aspicilia or not?

Hi all, this little grayish lichen looks like Aspicilia but doesn't key like Aspicilia. It appears to be K- KC- C- and I-. Spores are dark, muriform and between 44x18 to 49x26 microns. It's from southeast Oregon, on palagonite from around 4900 feet elevation. Any ideas on it's genus?

Puzzling! Lichen in my photo keyed to Circinaria, (C. contorta or C. arida).

This is definitely an Aspicilia (or the recent segregate Circinaria). Richard's and Steve's photos look very similar (and they do look like A. contorta/C. contorta), but there are some lookalike species.

Steve, could you somehow give the photos names or numbers when you post? I have been having trouble figuring out which photo you are referring to on some posts. Is the "Aspicilia" the one labeled 888?

    thanks!

Hi Daph, I'll try to rember to mark the photos I post. 888 is the Aspicila.
