    Hello,

This summer I'll be traveling to South Carolina, New Jersey, and Maine for a job with the University of Washington. I was wondering if anyone could suggest some good lichen resources for these areas?   So far I've found:

Fruticose and Foliose Lichens of the High-Mountain Areas of the Southern Appalachians Author(s): Jonathan P. Dey
Source: The Bryologist, Vol. 81, No. 1 (Spring, 1978), pp. 1-93

I'll post more resources as I find them.

    Thanks!!

Michael, I think the #1 book to get for macrolichens of that area is the Macrolichens of New England. Excellent resource.

For an up-to-date treatment for the southern Appalachians that includes crusts, see Lendemer, J.C., R.C. Harris and E.A. Tripp. 2013. The lichens and allied fungi of Great Smoky Mountains National Park: an annotated checklist with comprehensive keys. Memoirs of The New York Botanical Garden 104: i-viii, 1-152.
